The State

For those of you that were under a rock in the early to mid 90's MTV actually had gem of a show that was way ahead of it's time. Premiering on December 17th, 1993 the show, The State, consisted of 11 twenty something comedians who created, acted, wrote, directed, and edited the show. The show only aired for two seasons, however, the Monty Python type sketch comedy show created enough buzz by coining hilarious catch phrases such as "dip my balls in it" along with bizarre topics like "muppet meat". The show formed an underground cult that to this very day joins former viewers together in a sort of secret society way.

Many of the shows alumni have gone on to produce classic show's such as Reno 911 (most of the State cast is represented in the show). Many fans of the show will also be ecstatic to find out that MTV has finally settled on a release date for the series DVD (July 14, 2009). After years upon years of stubbornness, MTV has finally folded to the thousands of online petitions to release the DVD. So mark the date on your calendar and enjoy this video featuring one of the State's most classic skits. OOoo ya, rent or just buy Wet Hot American Summer. Trust me your gonna like the way it looks, I guarantee it (Men's Warehouse voice)

That's What She Said,

Mike Love
