Draft day steal LeSean McCoy might finally get to run behind an offensive line...maybe
This is a mock first and second round draft from NFL.Com senior analyst Pat Kirwan. It's pretty interesting for a couple of reasons. First, just about nobody is trying to pick who a team will go after in the second round (I thought you might like that), and secondly, outside of a handful of his picks, I don't think any of them will happen. I mean this guy is a senior writer at the premier NFL web site in the entire f*&%ing world and I can't make heads or tails out of how he came up with these picks. Beanie Wells going to the Saints-Uh uh.
I put this up here just to show all of you that no one knows what the Hell they are talking about. Yes, I believe Jason Smith will go number one to the Lions, but Malcolm Jenkins going ninth, come on. He might not be picked in the first two rounds.
All of the links will bring you into NFL.com so you can check out the info that they have, which is a Hell of a lot more than I have here. Hey, I'm a busy man. You have to come back though, they don't have any pictures of Megan FOx in all her glory. See, that's what I got over them, that and a great set of abs.
1. Lions -Jason Smith -OT
The Lions want the top pick signed before the draft, and that might eliminate picking a quarterback. Smith knows he could slip to at least the No. 4 spot and he should be very signable. Plus, he's worthy of the top spot.Second round: No. 33, Clint Sintim, LB, Virginia 2.
2. Rams Eugene Monroe OT Virginia
With the Rams' release of Orlando Pace, Monroe could step in from Day 1 and man the left tackle spot, leaving Alex Barron on the right side. The Rams want high-character guys, and the Virginia tackle fits the bill.Second round: No. 35, Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest
3. Chiefs Brian Orakpo DE/LB Texas
After Orakpo's pro day this past week, this is an easy decision for a team starving for a pass rusher in its new 3-4 defense. It would not surprise me if the Chiefs moved down in order to get more picks.Second round: No pick
4. Seahawks Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
The Seahawks have many needs, but a franchise quarterback falling into their lap is hard to resist. They may even like Mark Sanchez in this spot.Second round: No. 37, Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
5. Browns Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest
The Browns need quality players in the back seven on defense, and Curry can do it all. Don't worry about his lack of sack production in college -- they didn't send him that often.Second round: No. 36, Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan; No. 50: Asher Allen, CB, Georgia
6. Bengals Andre Smith OT Alabama
The Bengals may struggle with this pick, but Smith can line up from Day 1 and instantly make the Bengals a better running team. Smith had the longest arms of all the tackles and he can pass block as well.Second round: No. 38, Alex Mack, C, California
7. Raiders Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
A wide receiver who caught 231 passes in two college seasons is too hard to pass up.Second round: No. 40, William Beatty, OT, Connecticut<
8.Jaguars Mark Sanchez QB USC
The Jaguars can't pass up a quarterback who is rising up draft boards. They can get out of David Garrard's present quarterback contract in 2010 with no problem.Second round: No. 39: Eric Wood, C, Louisville<
9. Packers Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State
The Packers like solid citizens as much as they like athletes. They need a right tackle, for sure, but with Andre Smith gone, they turn to the best player on the board.Second round: No. 41, Ron Brace, DT, Boston College
10. 49ers Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
The 49ers are another team in search of a right tackle, but they will not reach for one. They like tough, productive players, and no one is more productive than Maclin, who led the nation in total yards per game with just over 200.Second round: No. 43, Sean Smith, CB/S, Utah
11.Bills Everette Brown DE/LB Florida State
Buffalo needs a pass rusher opposite Aaron Schobel, who is 32 years old and coming off an injury. Brown put up 20 sacks over the past last two years.Second round: No. 42, Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State
12. Broncos B.J. Raji DT Boston College
The Broncos are trying to build a 3-4 defense and they don't have a nose tackle to start the project. Raji is a 330-pound cornerstone.Second round: No. 48, Jarron Gilbert, DE, San Jose State
13. Redskins Tyson Jackson DE LSU
Washington needs to find a left defensive end opposite Andre Carter. Jackson is a 300-pound guy who is not flashy but is a very solid player.Second round: No pick
14. Saints Chris "Beanie" Wells RB Ohio State
Here's the replacement for Deuce McAllister. The Saints have needs on defense and should move down to collect some extra picks.Second round: No pick
15. Texans Brian Cushing LB USC
Cushing would answer many questions. He can play the Sam, Will or Mike linebacker spots and has lined up at defensive end. He will remind coach Gary Kubiak of Bill Romanowski.Second round: No. 46, D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt
16. Chargers Rey Maualuga LB USC
The Chargers take a guy who will remind fans of Junior Sea. When Maualuga teams up with OLB Shawne Merriman, this defense will be tough to stop.Second round: No pick
17. Jets Josh Freeman QB Kansas State
The Jets might pass on Freeman or sell the spot to a team like the Bucs. For now, the 6-foot-6 quarterback with a very strong arm is headed to the Big Apple.Second round: No. 52, Derrick Williams, WR, Penn State
18. Bears Peria Jerry DT Mississippi
The Bears solved their tackle situation by signing Kevin Shaffer, so now they can start to repair the defensive line. Jerry gives them a tandem inside like they haven't had since Tank Johnson lined up next to Tommie Harris.Second round: No. 49, Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State
19. Buccaneers Aaron Maybin DE Penn State
Maybin can really get after the passer and is athletic enough to play linebacker. The Bucs may really want quarterback Josh Freeman, but they have to move up to get him. With no second-round pick, that'll be tough.Second round: No pick
20. Lions Robert Ayers DE Tennessee
I wasn't sure about a one-year starter like Ayers until I watched a tape of 100 plays from the 2008 season. This guy has some of the traits of Dwight Freeney.Second round: See No. 1 pick
21. Eagles Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia
Moreno can do it all. As his college coach, Mark Richt, told me this week, Moreno doesn't want to be tackled, he's good out of the backfield, and he blocks. Moreno is next in line for Brian Westbrook's job when Westbrook retires.Second round: No. 53, Chase Coffman, TE, Missouri
22. Vikings Percy Harvin WR Florida
Harvin gives the Vikings a guy who can help as a returner, slot receiver and runner. He should be a terror in that indoor stadium. He has more to offer than some of the other receivers.Second round: No. 54, Max Unger, C/G, Oregon
23.Patriots Clay Matthews LB USC
If the Patriots trade for Julius Peppers or sign Jason Taylor, then this pick is either gone or changes. For now, the rising star from USC is the perfect fit for Bill Belichick's defense. They come right back in the second round with another outside linebacker -- one who reminds me of Mike Vrabel.Second round: No. 34, Connor Barwin, OLB/DE/TE, Cincinnati; No. 47, Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut; No. 58, Paul Kruger, DE, Utah
24. Falcons Evander Hood DT Missouri
The Falcons need to shore up the inside of their defense. Hood is a powerful 300-pound tackle with quickness and a motor.Second round: No. 55, Michael Johnson, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech
25. Dolphins Kenny Britt WR Rutgers
The Dolphins didn't have enough receivers last year to scare anyone. Britt just ran a 4.47 at his pro day and he's a big target from New Jersey, home of Bill Parcells.Second round: No. 44, Larry English, OLB/DE, Northern Illinois
26. Ravens Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland
Joe Flacco has a big arm and no deep-speed targets. Heyward-Bey runs a 4.3 and is big. He opens up the whole passing attack for the Ravens.Second round: No. 57, Patrick Chung, S, Oregon
27. Colts James Laurinaitis LB Ohio State
The Colts have to help their defense. After four games of watching Laurinitis key and diagnose, drop into coverage and just make plays, he is a good fit for the Colts.Second round: No. 61, Fili Moala, DT, USC
28. Eagles Michael Oher OT Mississippi
Eagles offensive line assistant Juan Castillo will coach this young, talented tackle. Oher is a bit raw but his issues look correctable.Second round: See No. 21
29. Giants Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina
Nicks comes from a program where he ran all of the routes in a pro-style offense. He gained too much weight between the combine and his pro day and the red flag went up for some teams, which drops him right into the Giants' lap. Watch his bowl game, Giants fans, and you will see why New York can move on from Plaxico Burress.Second round: No. 45, Shonn Greene, RB, Iowa; No. 60: James Casey, TE, Rice
30. Titans Vontae Davis CB Illinois
Davis is big and talented. He may not be mature enough yet for some coaches, but Jeff Fisher will have no problem getting this guy ready to play.Second round: No. 62, Ramses Barden, WR, Cal Poly
31. Cardinals LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh
As soon as the Cardinals find a running back, they can release Edgerrin James. McCoy and Tim Hightower would be the tandem for the future.Second round: No. 63, Andy Levitre, OG, Oregon State
32.Steelers Eben Britton OT Arizona
The Steelers need offensive-line help, and they will be surprised if Britton falls to them. If he doesn't, Michael Oher just might.Second round: No. 64, Jairus Byrd, CB, Oregon
