Do You Remember The Fear That Was Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson Fights used to be "Can't Miss" events......

By accident a couple of days ago, I was flipping through the channels doing my best not to watch any sort of pornography or pornographic material (which is tougher than you think when your a deviant) and I happened upon the legendary fight between Carl "The Truth" Williams and everyone's favorite ear-biter Iron Mike Tyson. It got me thinking, huh, "I wonder what's on the pornography channel?" No seriously, what the heck ever happened to the most dominent boxer of our generation and how did he fall so far out of our consciousness?

Iron Mike was a beast. The greatest that I will ever see in the boxing ring, that I am sure of. But he has fallen so far off the map, that he is only now casually regarded as a sports figure of yesteryear. I know, all the controversy, the felonies, the earbiting...blah blah blah.

But Tyson was more than just a sports figure to most that remember his glory years, he was a mystical figure that can only be matched with the likes of Jordan. He had the mystique and the bad ass, I'lll beat the crap out of everyone on the planet attitude that can't even be compared to anyone nowadays.

I know, no one watches boxing anymore. Let's face it, the sport sucks balls. And now with MMA taking center stage over almost every other sport (it's true, look at the pay-per-view numbers and tell me if a Red Sox game could compare), boxing is almost an afterthought. Quick, name the heavyweight champion of the world.....that big Russian guy.

Tyson fights were events. They were mini Super Bowls that happened a couple times year. And very quickly, Iron Mike was able to beat the crap out of everybody in the entire sport.

Thats why, and I usually don't do this, I'm going to post some videos of Iron Mike and the legendary fights that we all remember him from. Tyson was bigger than boxing, he was bigger than sports. When he was on top, everyone and their mother was playing Mike Tyson Knockout on Nintendo with the hope that you didn't waste the last three hours beating Bald Bull, just to get knocked out by Tyson's devastating uppercut.

I hope you enjoy the little retrospective.

For those of you asking, How's Mike Tyson now? He's doing great, he's still eating children!
Stay Classy and remember, it's all about fun.
